SEATTLE - Tuesday night was D-Day for Everrette Thompson. Yes, ‘D’ could have stood for ‘Decision’, but in this case it also stood for ‘Dawg’, as the 6-foot-6, 255-pound defensive end from Kennedy High in Burien verbally committed to Washington over offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, Washington State and others.
As first told to Ultimate Edge Sports and Thompson’s uncle - Simi Strickland - the No. 11-rated DE by Scout.com made the news official while he celebrated his 18th birthday.”I’m going to be a Husky!” Thompson said.
Thompson is also rated by Scout.com as the No. 2 player in the state of Washington and the No. 7 player in the Northwest - regardless of position.
With Thompson’s commitment, the Washington coaching staff nailed down the last top-10 player in the state. Of those 10, the Huskies have secured verbal commitments from seven - including the top-five (Kavario Middleton, Thompson, Alameda Ta’amu, Jermaine Kearse and Senio Kelemete).
